About Laser Therapy

Laser Therapy is the use of near-infrared laser energy over injuries to reduce pain, inflammation, and to stimulate healing.  It is safe, painless, and can be effective in the treatment of a wide variety of conditions.  It is the use of laser energy to create therapeutic effects.  Research has shown that these effects include improved healing time, pain reduction, increased circulation and decreased swelling.

Laser Therapy has been used throughout the world for over 30 years, and is routinely utilized by doctors and therapists in the treatment of both acute and chronic conditions.

The History of Laser Therapy

The effects of light on cellular function have been known since 1880, however the clinical benefits of laser energy were only discovered by accident in 1967.

The first lasers for treating pain became available in the later 1970's and, since then, have been widely utilized in Europe and Asia by therapists and chiropractors.  Now, after FDA approval in 2001, laser therapy is quickly gaining populartiy in the United States.

Laser Therapy Works

NASA, the U.S. Military, and major medical facilities world-wide have published many successful clinical studies on the use of Laser Therapy for the treatment of soft tissue injuries, pain syndromes and wound healing.

This evidence is compelling.  Laser Therapy is a safe and effective modality that is destined to play an important role in the future of medicine and rehabilitation.

The Apollo Portable Laser System is the embodiment of many years of international research and development.  Dr. Bridgeman has chosen the Apollo Laser because of its quality and effectiveness.  This will produce the best possible clinical outcome for your condition.

The Safety of Laser Therapy

The FDA has cleared laser therapy for the treatment of many pain syndromes.  The treatment of other conditions is presently considered experimental by the FDA.  The FDA considers laser therapy to be a safe and effective modality when used properly by a licensed practitioner.
